About the Therapist
Hi! I'm Megan, a person-centred therapist. I use they/she pronouns. I aim to provide a space where clients can be, and become, themselves. To this end, you can expect me to be honest, warm, and committed to understanding you and your process. I identify as queer, asexual and non-binary. I am also White, abled, straight-sized and middle-class. I feel passionately about acknowledging the privilege I hold, and adopting anti-oppressive practices. Â Â

I primarily work with a person-centred approach. This means that I believe each person is the expert in their own life, their own distress, and their own flourishing. My clients set the agenda; I do not make a treatment plan, set homework, or diagnose them. My job is to create a psychologically safe environment, and be your companion in whatever work you decide to undertake.
I have recently completed additional training in trauma-informed therapy, with a focus on polyvagal theory and somatic approaches. If this is something my clients wish to explore then we can build this into our work together.Â
I have worked in a suicide prevention service, specialising in working with individuals bereaved by suicide. I have also been a support worker for homeless adults and looked-after young people. I trained for 3 years as a person-centred therapist, which included a 2-year placement providing free, long-term person-centred therapy to adults in Nottingham. I also have lived experience of anxiety and depression, and of being a therapy client. Â
