Michael Blakeborough
About the Therapist
I have been providing counselling since 2021 in private practice and have accumulated thousands of hours of experience working with individual clients from all walks of life but chiefly I have worked with clients who identify as LGBTQIA+ and clients who practice ethical non-monogamy within their relationship/s. Working mainly with these communities, I’ve discovered that their need for relationship counselling is very poorly served. This is despite an overall increase in people who are in relationships that fall outside of the conventional social norms, as a result of improved awareness and inclusion of gender and sexual diversity.
I have therefore chosen to pursue an advanced diploma in relational psychotherapy, provided by NAOS, so that I can better provide this much needed counselling space to the relationships that need a safe, non-judgmental and informed safe space. Whilst I progress this optional advanced diploma I am a student member of CORST and I can now accept referrals for relationship counselling on a reduced rate until completion of my advanced training.
I have limited spaces available so if you feel your relationship would benefit from relationship counselling with me at LGC please send me an email and I will arrange a free 15 minute session in which we can get to know each other and so that you can get a feel for if I am the right counsellor to facilitate and support your process towards reaching your relationship goals.

I have experience working with clients from across the LGBTQIA+ community.
My practice with individuals is integrative rooted in the person-centred approach, but I integrate aspects of other approaches to best suit you and your specific needs.
For relationship counselling I use an integrative approach called 'Imago'.
Unfortunately I am currently unable to offer therapeutic services for under-eighteens, addiction, eating disorders or complex trauma (such as complex presentations of PTSD).
