About the Therapist
Hello. I'm working on Zoom and in person from my therapy room in Derbyshire, half an hour from Sheffield, 40 minutes from Derby. I specialise in working with trauma, with menopause and mid-life and with coming out later in life. I work with relationship dynamics and offer workshops on Zoom for healing heartbreak, coming out and self care. I run retreats and I embrace diversity and difference.
I've an 8 week Therapy Group starting soon for women wanting to explore the dynamics of relationships with women and with their own sexuality. This will include the joys as well as the pain within each woman's experience.
Over 35 years of practice I've trained in 3 complete psychotherapy trainings, as a supervisor and in several further topics including working with LGBTQIA+ clients. I've worked with a wide range of clients from a variety of backgrounds. I've worked for 5 different universities and have written, taught, supervised and marked degree courses in Psychotherapy. I've been an international speaker and trainer.
Recently I had a chapter published in a book by Routledge - "Queering Gestalt Therapy". My topic was the problems when women coming out later in life seek therapy. I don't judge my clients or their coping strategies. Life can be hard and I'm here to understand my clients' uniqueness and individual story. Â
My stance is that there is nothing wrong with you, but likely there have been things wrong with the way you've been treated in life and the messages you've internalised. I'm not here to change people but to help them make peace with who they are to and to respond to themselves with understanding and compassion. Ultimately I wish for them to be confident and happy in their own skin.Â

Ultimately I wish for them to be confident and happy in their own skin. I work with women, trans women and non binary people AFAB. This limitation is new this year and is simply because as I enter my autumn years I'm reducing my hours and I hope to finish writing a book about the psychology of lesbian experience. With fewer therapy spaces available I'm focussing on my niche areas of practice to keep me fresh, up to date and on topic for my writing.
