Naomi Magnus is a Harley Street Existential Psychotherapist with extensive experience working with adults, young people and couples.
She has private therapy practices in both Harley Street in Central London and Finchley North London as well as offering home visits and online video sessions.
Naomi has over 13 years of experience working with a wide range of issues such as; anxiety, fear, OCD, panic attacks, depression, self-esteem, relationship problems, identity and gender, life changes, meaning, grief, sexuality, trauma and abuse.
Naomi conducted her qualifying research on motherhood and has a particular interest in working with mothers, fathers and parenting couples negotiating all aspects of the parenting journey from conception, through pregnancy and beyond.
Naomi also has extensive experience offering individual and relationship psychotherapy for clients with gender, sexuality or relationship diversities. She offers an approachable, friendly and informal space for clients to come and explore whatever they feel necessary.
Good talking therapy rests on the quality of the relationship you have with your therapist. Research has shown that regardless of the type of therapy a person receives, how they feel in the relationship with their therapist determines how successful the therapy is.
"With this in mind, I offer a personable and warm approach to psychotherapy where we work on what you bring together and in partnership. I value the human closeness that humour and informality bring to the therapeutic relationship and believe that true healing takes place through that type of connection."

My practice is best described as existential-phenomenological psychotherapy. Existential psychotherapy is a non-directive form of therapy. This means that I believe you are the expert, I do not claim to have any answers that you cannot find yourself, however it can be helpful to be supported in finding these answers and this is where therapy plays a part. As an existential psychotherapist I believe that enabling you to gain increased awareness of yourself and the implications of the choices you make, will lead you to live in a more meaningful and fulfilled way, and this is a main goal of therapy. The work is always collaborative, with me acting as a guide for you to explore what you choose.
Existential psychotherapy is a talking therapy that draws on ideas from existential philosophy. Some central themes that inform my practice are: choice and responsibility, the search for meaning in life, mortality, freedom and relationships with others, ourselves and the natural world. Existential psychotherapists understand that emotional crises are devastating and need help to be resolved, but also believe that resolution can lead to a deeper sense of meaning in life and therefore enhanced well-being and life satisfaction.
See me at my Harley Street London practice, or Finchley Central or alternatively online.
Psychotherapy is a talking therapy; this means that a typical session will consist of dialogue between you and your therapist.
Once you've been in contact and decide you'd like to try talking therapy, I'll invite you for an assessment session. The assessment session will last for 50 minutes. This session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for me to hear about you, and what brings you to seek therapy. Please use this session to gain a sense of my way of working and how you feel about being in the room and in conversation with me. Finding the right therapist is a personal and important choice and you should feel comfortable and safe with the therapist you see. This can be at my Harley Street London practice or in Finchley or alternatively online.
In this session I'll explain a little about how I work and the practicalities around our sessions such as confidentiality and time keeping. You will be welcome to ask any questions regarding your therapy with me.
In the assessment we'll discuss how many sessions you want. This can be a set time span, set number, or open ended. This decision will be made together and will be informed by many different factors. We will also come to an agreement about what service will best suit your needs, this decision will always be collaborative with the goal being that you choose what feel best for you.
