Natalie Wilson
About the Therapist
My name is Natalie and I identify as lesbian, queer and gender non-conforming. I am dedicated to creating spaces for the LGBTQ+ community to gather, play and heal. I did this for many years in the arts and am now focusing on LGBTQ+ mental health as a Creative Arts Therapist. This is a form of psychotherapy that combines the skills and theory of "talk" therapies with an embodied approach through arts practice. Healing can be found in creativity, either to open up conversation or bring unexplored aspects of the self into awareness. Our sessions may be fully talking or we may introduce an aspect of creative arts practice into the process such as story, drawing, role play, object work or movement. There is no need to be an artist to benefit from a creative approach, it is simply another way of expressing yourself when words are not enough. I will support you by holding a space for you to breathe and reflect on worries, anxieties or uncertainties that may be holding you back and explore ways forward to fulfil your potential.

The therapeutic relationship is key to my approach. I will work to see and hear you, to understand what brings you into our work together and what your needs are moving forward. My training is underpinned by Jungian theory but my learning has been broad and I aim to be person-centred and client-led. I am an HCPC-registered Dramatherapist, having trained and qualified with Distinction from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in Drama and Movement Therapy (Sesame). I am dedicated to learning and engage with ongoing CPD in other psychotherapies, anti-racism, neurodiverisity and disability rights.
I bring an affirmative and inclusive outlook to my work and welcome clients from all backgrounds. Areas of specialism and experience include:
- Ageing
- Coming Out
- Low self-esteem/Shame
- Gender
- Cognitive Issues
I recognise that being LGBTQ+ is not always the issue that we bring to the therapy space. We are people that live and breathe in a world full of variety and challenges, we come from diverse and different families and backgrounds that shape who we are. I offer you a space where you can be fully yourself as LGBTQ+ without question or judgment.
