Philip Adlem (London, W1)
About the Therapist
I believe there is no 'one size fits all' for working with anyone questioning themselves or from within the LGBTQ+ community, but I do have over thirty years of experience working one-to-one with a diverse range of people whose identities fall under the LGBTQ+ umbrella - many of my client testimonials come from our community, and I'd invite you to look at my website for more information, and get in touch.
My written work on gender within intersectionality has been published by the Journal of Psychodynamic Practice and is now taught on the University of London's Masters syllabus as a core text for trainee therapists.
I also understand the reluctance many people feel when approaching therapy for the first time. It’s easy to see it as a weakness, but in reality it takes considerable strength to challenge stigma, take a risk on someone else, and begin the work.

I am trained in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic modalities, completing my MSc while working in a demanding emergency services role. My professional experience in life-threatening situations shapes the way I work as a therapist: providing a grounding presence, with expertise and candour, and able to stay with you through what is difficult or unpleasant without retreating from it.
