Reed Amos - Somatic Expression online
About the Therapist
I'm Reed, my pronouns are they/them. Some labels I use are: Non-binary, transgender, autistic, white, animist, queer, polyamorous, artist.
After over a decade of providing support and care to disabled, chronically ill and neurodivergent communities, I found myself wanting to provide healing spaces for trauma away from a clinical environment. With my personal therapy journey leading me to somatic therapy, I very quickly became fascinated with how the tools I learnt meant I was more able to live in the present, feel safer in my body and move through the world better resourced.
My professional background is in supporting individuals, families and communities in a range of different roles and settings. I am passionate about disability and trans* justice and include liberatory informed and decolonisation practises in all that I do.
I am autistic and live with C-PTSD, and I navigate the world as a transgender, non-binary person. I have experience supporting people with and without formal diagnoses, including neurodivergence, chronic fatigue, EDS, anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

I believe that we are each born with an intuitive sense that serves to guide us throughout each incarnation. Childhood adversities, undigested generational trauma, or simply living within post-colonial and capitalist structures can disconnect us from this intuition. This leaves us somatically bereft and feeling lonely, empty, or without true guidance. Walking along the path of inner knowing is a commitment to trusting ourselves and is, I believe, a profound act of love not only for ourselves, but for the beings with whom we are in relationship through our journeys on Earth.
I like to think of my space as a counterbalance to the pathologising environments many of us encounter in clinical mental health settings. It also responds to the culture of toxic positivity and spiritual bypassing often found in the wellness industry.
I hold a caring space for you to explore your challenges and your strengths, especially in response to difficult emotions or situations.
In our sessions, we work slowly and collaboratively, paying attention to what is happening in your body as well as your thoughts and emotions. This might include noticing sensations, exploring patterns, and gently building your capacity to stay with your experience without overwhelm. We can learn how your nervous system works and how best to resource it at your own pace. There is no pressure to perform or “fix” anything, this is a space to listen, feel, and make sense of your inner world.
Over time, this process can support you to feel more at home in your body, better understand your emotional landscape, and move through life with more steadiness and self-trust.
You don’t need a specific issue to bring, I am able to walk alongside you through many challenges that life can bring, including but not limited to; loss and grief, relationship difficulties, dysphoria and social/ medical transitions, adoption and foster care experiences, sex and sexuality, religious trauma. If there is an issue you are facing that I have not mentioned and you would like to better understand if I am the right person to help, you are welcome to send me a message of enquiry.
