About the Therapist
About me
I have a background in the creative arts, as well as spending many years learning about re-generative land based practices. I spent many years supporting people from all walks of life, as a support worker for young people and adults with additional needs, and more recently through crisis intervention work around the Coronovirus pandemic, and as a volunteer counsellor for LGBT Foundation. I began my training journey as a therapist and facilitator with Processwork UK in 2016. I am white, non-disabled, neuro-diverse and identify as trans non-binary and queer. I use they/them pronouns.
I actively work towards affirming diversity and providing education around issues of marginalisation and oppression. In 2020 I co-founded Beyond the Box, a facilitation collective dedicated to providing education and training around gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. Beyond the Box has since joined in partnership with Pride Outside CIC, an outdoor well-being organisation working with LGBTQ communities in Scotland.
Safe and ethical practice is important to me, and I recognise that on-going self work is necessary to work with diverse identities and experiences. I am dedicated to self-education, self-reflection and constant engagement around dynamics of power and privilege. I am a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy and abide by their code of ethical practice.
Motivations and values
I am passionate about holistic healing, facilitating awareness, and working towards social justice. My core motivations and value are:
- A commitment to social justice and intersectionality (find out more about intersectionality)
- A focus on the collective as well as the individual. I understand that much of the oppression and trauma we face as individuals is rooted in collective and systemic oppression
- A dedication to supporting individuals and communities to find healing, resilience, clarity and purpose, in order to transform and find new patterns of relating and being
- A commitment to on-going self work and self interrogation, and rigorous ethical standards of practice
- A trauma informed approach; at all times thinking about safety, consent, choice and empowerment

- Queer

Why therapy?
There are all kinds of reasons why you might want to talk to a therapist or counsellor. Life is full of challenges and opportunities for growth, be that relationship difficulties, family dynamics, mental and physical health challenges, or aspects of our identities and experiences that we want to explore and understand. Therapy can offer a confidential and safe space to share your experiences, a place to be heard, witnessed and supported in your journey through facilitating a deeper understanding of what is happening in our lives.
My approach
My primary purpose as a therapist is to support you to gain deeper insight and awareness into whatever experiences are happening in your life. Processwork is a method that embraces many forms of expression, be that talking, moving, unfolding body experiences, working with dreams and using image making and role play. At all times the focus is what feels the most useful, and potentially transformative to you in our work together. I work in a relational and intersectional way, knowing that many of the challenges we face are part of a wider social and cultural picture. I can offer an empathic, non-judgemental and compassionate space, to hold and unfold whatever arises. I have over five years of experience as a trainee Psychotherapist with Processwork UK, and am a trainee member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy. At the moment I can offer online session via a secure video platform, over the phone, or in person at Green Lane Counselling & Psychotherapy, in Derby.

I offer therapy on a sliding scale of £30, £40 or £50 per session, to reflect individual life and financial circumstances. Fees are based on self-assessment, and you can find out more about this on my website. Please contact me with any further questions about fees, I have limited spaces to offer as solidarity slots for those experiencing financial hardship.
If you wish to explore the possibility of working with me, I offer a free initial 20 minute meeting on zoom or over the phone, where you can tell me a bit about your reasons for coming to therapy, to see if I am a good fit for you and to ask any questions you might have.
