About the Therapist
I'm a nonbinary and transmasculine queer, with a history as a butch dyke. I've been part of lesbian, gay, queer and trans communities for most of my life, and am intersectional in my politics and values. I am affirmative of trans, sex-work, kink, neurodiverse and fat experience, and include an intersectional, antiracist, systemic perspective on how power and privilege affects who we are and how we feel.
As a therapist, I take an 'integrative' approach, means we might work differently depending on what you need, drawing from humanistic, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed nervous-system regulatory approaches among others. We might reflect on our relationship in the present, consider the influence of the past and your early relationships, or address unprocessed trauma held in the body, sometimes originating from intergenerational wounds passed down.
I also include a transpersonal and existential perspective, which takes the view that we are more than just what's happened to us, and sees our wounds not only as problems, but as portals to empowerment, wisdom and meaning. As Jung says, ‘everything belongs’. Even our painful experiences are part of what shapes us, and even our shadow sides, parts of ourselves we don’t like, are a necessary part of our wholeness.
As well as a qualified therapist, I've also been a meditation and mindfulness practitioner for almost two decades. Such practices can offer both wisdom and compassion but also ways of bypassing the pain and necessary healing of unaddressed psychological and emotional wounds. Instead, I take a soulful perspective, looking for meaning in the descent into our wounding and bringing together the expansiveness of a spiritual perspective with the blood, sweat and tears of ordinary life.

I hold a Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling from Re-Vision, a highly respected counselling and psychotherapy training provider accredited by the BACP and UKCP. I am a registered member of the BACP, registration number 404108.
I currently practice in person in Bethnal Green E2, and have availability on Monday and Wednesday afternoons & evenings. While I do offer online therapy, I find working in person offers a deeper and more effective experience.

I've been working as a counsellor with a range of clients since 2021. Alongside being a counsellor, I've been working in a teaching and mentoring capacity in education and academia, both for groups and on a one-to-one basis, for over 20 years.
Therapy is a space for you to explore what's really happening and how you really feel, in a safe, accepting space free from judgement. As well as traditional talk therapy, our work together might include approaches such as working creatively through images, or somatically, exploring sensations in the body.
There are many reasons you might be looking for therapy or counselling: you might be feeling low, anxious or have a particular issue you are finding overwhelming - grief, heartbreak, or trauma. Perhaps you feel ready to break out of an old pattern and make a change, or even just learn to love and trust who you already are, with all your human imperfections and vulnerabilities. The therapeutic relationship offers a chance to bring things to the surface, allowing them to heal. Together, maybe we can put the pieces of your story together and find our way through the underworld, back to your life.
Reaching out to a therapist or counsellor is an act of profound self-care. It takes courage and isn't always easy, but can lead to relief from suffering or even liberating change. I'll be by your side while you explore what's troubling you at your own pace, offering you support and encouragement as well as gentle challenge. I'll listen deeply to what you share, reflecting back what I hear and offering perspectives to shed more light on what's going on for you, helping you to change old, unhelpful patterns and tell a different story.

My fee is £70 per 50 minute session. Concessions are sometimes available on a limited basis.
The connection between you and the counsellor has to feel right for therapy to be effective. I offer a free, no-obligation initial consultation for us to get a sense of each other before we agree to work together. This is a chance for you to meet me, talk about what brings you to therapy and ask me any questions you might have.
If we think we'd work well together, our sessions would be 50 minutes long and usually be scheduled weekly at the same time and place. Our work together could be short or long-term depending on what you need.
