About the Therapist
I have worked within the LGBTQIA+ community for 15 years, initially in the arts. I remain interested in creativity as an expanded process of meaning-making and self-exploration. It is important to me that affirmative spaces, including therapy, are available to marginalised people. As a queer, affirmative, integrative therapist. I primarily integrate psychodynamic and person-centred therapeutic approaches with existential thought and relational and creative methods. Our work may include exploring your present circumstances, feelings, or historical experiences - or perhaps sitting together to untangle a sense of confusion, anxiety or sadness. In addition to working with verbal descriptions of experiences and feelings, I am interested in what we can learn from our bodies and imaginations by reflecting on somatic experience, metaphor, and recurring visual imagery. The therapeutic process is co-created, and our working methods will be shaped in collaboration.I currently work as a counsellor for LGBTQIA+ people and people with HIV at two charities. I have completed 4 years of training in Integrative counselling and psychotherapy. My PG Dip was GSRD-accredited by Pink Therapy. I enjoy continually expanding my skills as a therapist, and currently, this includes pursuing a master's degree in Existential Psychotherapy.I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and of TACTT (Therapists Against Conversion Therapy and Transphobia).

Approach:I integrate psychodynamic and person-centred therapeutic approaches with relational practice and existential thought. In brief, psychodynamic theory can offer doors to untangling patterns, and person-centred therapy provides a compassionate environment where you may find authenticity and agency. Existential thought fosters a deeper understanding of our lived experiences as we navigate life's uncertainties. Relational work considers our therapeutic relationship as a valuable space for deepening understanding and as a site for healing. I pay attention to our distinct way of relating to each other, which provides opportunities to tune into the healing potential of the therapeutic relationship. I consider my clients to be experts on themselves, and I strive to ensure that all our work together is aligned with your cultural frame.I offer regular 50-minute sessions that can be open-ended or structured as a short-term contract.Experience:I have completed a GSRD-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling with distinction, and Level 2 and Level 3 Certificates in Counselling Skills. I also hold a Master's degree in Art Writing and a BA (Hons) in Fine Art.I have been a specialist LGBTQIA+ counsellor and client assessor at LGBTQIA+ mental health service ELOP since 2021. I have two further years of experience as a counsellor for LGBTQIA+ people and people affected by HIV with Metro Charity, and previously worked as a facilitator for Metro’s mental health support group for LGBTQIA+ people and people affected by HIV.I have worked with clients struggling with a range of experiences, including but not limited to bereavement, trauma, anxiety and depression, chemsex, burn-out, spirituality conflicts, experiences of sexual abuse, sex work, social activism, poly and non-monogamy, kink, neurodiversity, and being LGBTQIA+. The majority of my clients have been trans or non-binary and neurodiverse. About 40% of my clients have had an Islamic cultural heritage. I strive to maintain an affirmative and anti-oppressive stance.
