About the Therapist
About Me
I came to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist through my own queer lived experience. For many years I struggled to find internal acceptance, and to understand my own identity and place in a cis-heteronormative world. It was my own therapy that helped me to navigate my feelings and find my own strength, resilience and peace.
That's why I'm passionate about therapy. I know first-hand that it can be transformative, that it can change lives. I hope that, by navigating the process together, you might feel the same way. I work in a "pluralistic" way, which essentially means that we'll work together to find a way of working that meets your own wants, needs and beliefs. No one client's journey is the same as another - there is no one "one size fits all". I work both online and in-person from a location in Manchester City Centre. I can also provide telephone therapy for those who feel they might prefer this.
If you'd like to know more, let's have a chat. I offer all prospective clients a free, no obligation initial call for us to get to know each other, and to see if we might be a suitable match.

My Approach
My approach to therapy has been shaped by my own lived experience.
I believe that each and every client is unique and will need different things from therapy. I aim to collaborate with each client, tailoring the approach to ensure that you get what you need from our sessions (known as a pluralistic approach).
I am trained in the humanistic, person-centred approach, which places the client at the centre of the work we do together. This approach is non-directive in nature, putting you in control of the direction and pace of therapy.
However, I recognise that some clients might feel they need something a little more driven by their therapist. At the start of therapy, I discuss with each client their wants and needs and together we work to agree an approach which suits.
I also touch upon other modalities in my work, including existential therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), with a further focus on social justice and anti-oppression.
My Experience As well as my own practice, I have experience working with a number of LGBTQIA+ organisations, including LGBT Foundation (Manchester) and MindOUT (Brighton), providing therapy for LGBTQIA+ people from all sorts of backgrounds and intersectionalities. I've also worked with Our Room (Manchester), working with males, trans+ and non-binary people who sex work. Alongside my practice, I also work alongside the George House Trust (Manchester) providing therapy for people living with HIV.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually scheduled weekly or fortnightly.
£60 per 50 minute session.
I work both online and in-person from a location in Manchester City Centre. I can also provide telephone therapy for those who feel they might prefer this.
Discounted sessions are available for students, trainees and those saving for gender-affirming surgeries.
I offer a free 20 minute consultation call (either video or telephone, whichever you might prefer) for all new clients. This is an informal chat where we'll talk through what's brought you to therapy and how we might work together. It's important that you find the right therapist for you, so this is a chance for you to ask me any questions you might have about me, my practice, and therapy in general.
