About the Therapist
About the therapist:
Hey, my name is Serafeim(They/Them) and I am a BABCP registered cognitive behavioural therapist. I have also completed EMDR UK standard accredited training. I offer online assessment and therapy.
I have experience supporting those struggling with common mental health difficulties such as low mood, anxiety, OCD and PTSD as well as mental health difficulties that present with more complexity such as psychosis or eating disorders.
I have worked for the NHS both in clinical and research capacities for the past 9 years. My therapeutic approach integrates elements from different modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), third wave approaches, EMDR or psychodynamic therapy.
I have extensive experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. With that in mind, we may need to collaboratively make adaptations to therapy to meet your needs. I am particularly interested in working with those from the LBGTQIA+ community. I have an affirmative approach, meaning that I do not hold assumptions around "normal" sexual orientations or binary gender identities.

Experience and approach:
I bring skills and experience across different settings such as low secure inpatient wards, psychology services in physical health settings, specialist community mental health teams for severe mental health difficulties and social settings e.g. services targeting homelessness.
During our initial meeting, we will discuss what brought you to this space. Some people may be looking for time limited and goal focused pieces while others may be looking into more open ended therapy. For example, some people may be looking for symptom reduction, others to better understand past experiences while others may not have particular goal in mind. All of these requests are valid.
Once we complete that an initial assessment, I will make a suggestion based on your request. This could be aligned with CBT or one of the other approaches that I offer therapy for such as EMDR. From there on, we will proceed based on what we collectively decide. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch 🙂
