Sex-therapy by Mariia Goubernik
About the Therapist
My practice is built on the belief that therapy should be as unique as the person receiving it. I operate from a deeply collaborative, non-judgmental framework, ensuring that our therapeutic relationship serves as a secure foundation for exploration and healing.
Beyond traditional talk therapy, my background combines formal clinical training with grassroots community leadership and human rights activism. Holding specialized qualifications from the Institute of Addiction Psychotherapy in Lviv, I integrate knowledge with compassionate, trauma-informed care. My academic and professional journey also includes counseling and interpreting credentials from Wirral Met College, enhancing my ability to communicate sensitively across diverse cultural landscapes.
In our sessions, we will look at the whole picture. I understand that individual struggles are often deeply intertwined with broader systemic barriers, discrimination, or major life upheavals like forced dislocation. With over five years of dedicated experience in face-to-face casework, crisis intervention, and group facilitation, I am highly adept at managing complex emotional material safely. Together, we will monitor your progress and flexibly adjust your care plan, keeping your personal goals, safety, and empowerment at the very center of our work.
My Focus Areas:
-
Gender & Sexuality: Providing a truly celebratory, affirmative space for trans, non-binary, and LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating identity and relationships.
-
Trauma & Abuse Recovery: Utilizing a trauma-informed lens to safely process complex trauma, abuse, and systemic oppression.
-
Sex-Worker Advocacy: Delivering confidential, harm-reduction-aligned support tailored to the specific lived realities of women in sex work.

Professional Transparency & Approach to Care
A Note on My Practice and Credentials: As a refugee from Ukraine, the foundational years of my medical and specialized therapeutic education were completed overseas. Because of this structural transition, I am not yet registered with a UK-specific awarding body, though I am actively in the process of transferring and aligning my qualifications to the local regulatory frameworks.
My practice is fully transparent, evidence-based, and adheres strictly to rigorous professional ethical standards and data-protection (GDPR) frameworks to ensure your absolute safety and confidentiality.
