Sinead Tingley
About the Therapist
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor with an integrative approach. I will listen in a non-judgemental way, offer caring confidential support and help to guide you to discover where your difficulties may stem from.
We often ignore or bury painful experiences from the past even though they can continue to affect the way we behave and think in the present. Exploring these experiences results in a deeper understanding of yourself and others.
It can be beneficial to talk to an experienced therapist with an unbiased perspective, who can offer a safe space to talk and is not connected to family or friends.

I graduated from York St John University and hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling PG(Dip). I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) as both a counsellor and Counselling Supervisor.
I have worked as a visiting lecturer at York St John University on their BA Mental Health and Counselling and PG(Dip)/MA Counselling programmes of study.
I enjoy working with both individuals and couples and have had training in couples therapy on approved College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) programmes.
I have experience of working as a member of the Family Therapy team at the Child and Adolesence Mental Health Service, York (CAMHS). I have worked with young people and families to overcome relationship issues and effect positive change through intensive therapeutic family interventions. I also have over 15 years experience of working directly on a 1:1 basis with children and young people.
I specialise in Anger Management and have co-facilitated a research project at York St John University, developing tools and practical strategies for client use.
I work closely with the LGBT community, providing a safe, non judgemental space for clients to explore both their sexuality and gender and place in the world. I am GSRD aware and kink friendly.
I have extensive experience of supporting men's mental health. I have worked with both local and national men's mental health charities to provide both counselling and consultancy to improve outcomes for those experiencing issues with low psychological wellbeing.
