Steve Briggs
About the Therapist
I came out as gay when I was 17, in 1971, so therefore have witnessed The tumultuous politics and changing attitudes of society in general to sex, sexuality and identity as well as pursuing my own personal journey. I have identified as a gay man for some 50 years however now I’m embracing my queer identity, primarily because it symbolises my commitment to the LGBTQ+ plus community and importantly, for me, dissociates myself from the emergent LGB cabal whose noninclusive views, I find repugnant. I have been with my partner and now husband for 30 years old, live on the south coast with our two dogs. We are both fortunate to have two very large, extensive and accepting families and friendship groups, but I am keenly aware that sadly still so many people in our community do not have that support. I believe in the uniqueness of each individual; having a deep personal commitment to all aspects to equal opportunity and respect for diversity and I attempt to work creatively in a way that suits each client.
