Zoe John-Kay
About the Therapist
Zoe John-Kay is a pluralistic integrative therapist and is listed on the Pink Therapy Advanced Accredited register. The pluralistic approach recognises that every person needs different things from therapy at different times. There is no single ‘right’ way to work towards your goals. They integrate techniques from a range of different types of therapy to find a mix that works for you.
In addition to being adaptable to your unique needs, Zoe is warm and understanding, non-judgmental, and focused on building a strong relationship with you as the basis of therapy. They work with clients from all backgrounds, and especially welcome people who identify with any aspect of gender, sex and relationship diversity, and with people with known or suspected neurodiversity.
Their work is anti-oppressive, fat-liberatory, anti-ableist, and anti-racist. They know that different aspects of people's lives create a unique lived experience, and they can help clients to understand how the various aspects of their experiences impact on their lives.
Working in a trauma-informed way, they can help you understand how your past impacts on your present, including family issues and past relationships, sexual abuse and assault, domestic abuse and substance misuse. They have experience of working with people to better understand and re-evaluate their identity and know that how people relate to themselves can change over time. When life events such as job loss, divorce, bereavement, and other major things happen, they can support you through processing the feelings that naturally arise as you go through these changes. They have experience with people who have depression, anxiety, OCD and a variety of other mental health issues as well as problematic substance use, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. They can also support you to improve self-esteem, confidence, and sense of self-worth.
