About the Therapist
Zoe John-Kay is an integrative Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity Psychotherapist listed on the Pink Therapy Advanced Accredited register. They integrate techniques from a range of different types of therapy to find a mix that works for you.
In addition to being adaptable to your unique needs, Zoe is warm and understanding, non-judgmental, and focused on building a strong relationship with you as the basis of therapy. They work with clients from all backgrounds, and especially welcome people who identify with any aspect of gender, sex and relationship diversity, and with people with known or suspected neurodivergence. They work with autistic people, ADHD, and other forms of neurodivergence will be happy to have an informal chat with you to discuss what you think will work for your specific needs.
Their work is anti-oppressive, fat-liberatory, anti-ableist, and anti-racist. They know that different aspects of people's lives create a unique lived experience, and they can help clients to understand how the various aspects of their experiences impact on their lives.
Working in a trauma-informed way, they can help you understand how your past impacts on your present, including family issues and past relationships, sexual abuse and assault, domestic abuse and substance misuse. They have experience of working with people to better understand and re-evaluate their identity and know that how people relate to themselves can change over time. When life events such as job loss, divorce, bereavement, and other major life events happen, they can support you through processing the feelings that naturally arise as you go through these changes. They have experience with people who have depression, anxiety, OCD and a variety of other mental health issues as well as problematic substance use, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. They can also support you to improve self-esteem, confidence, and sense of self-worth.

Zoe has a postgraduate certificate in Person-centred Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a postgraduate diploma in Gender, Sex, and Relationship Diversity Psychotherapy. They hold a postgraduate diploma in Coaching, and they are a qualified Hypnotherapist. They have completed Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist training, and integrate a variety of neurobiologically informed methods into their work. Their past work includes supporting bereaved people through Cruse Bereavement and working with people with complex problematic substance use at Connections Counselling.They are registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and abide by their codes of ethical conduct.

Sliding scale from £30-£60. No proof of income is required for lower cost counselling - clients can select their fee depending on their own assessment of their ability to pay. Higher cost counselling enables more clients on lower incomes to access affordable therapy and Zoe to cover their costs.
