I use a cognitive behavioural approach to help people with their problems. This is because it has the most research evidence of effectively helping people. Also, I have learnt from clinical experience that targeting an issue and trying new behaviours is the key to change. We do this all collaboratively, and you control and set what we do. I aim for a safe space where you feel you can speak about anything that is bothering you. Additionally, I integrate elements of schema therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy when problems feel "deeper", and other strategies would be useful.
I've worked in the NHS at South London & Maudsley and Camden & Islington, focusing on personality disorders, depression, trauma, and anxiety. I also worked at King's College London in mental health support. My academic roles included teaching on clinical and counselling psychology doctorates at the University of Surrey and the University of East London. I've been a Clinical Research Associate at University College London for a CBT for depression trial. Currently, I serve as a lecturer in clinical psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London, and I am also a visiting researcher at UCL's Division of Psychiatry.
In my private practice, I have developed significant experience working with gay men, as many have sought my help over the years. This has given me a deeper understanding of their unique challenges and specific needs.
