Joseph Cattell
About the Therapist
I'm a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Internal Family Systems practitioner in London currently offering therapy online, both short and longer term. I seek to provide a warm, collaborative space for you to make sense of what is most important to you.
My background includes many years in the NHS across mental health, sexual health, end-of-life care, and clinical research. I’m also a registered nurse. This varied experience gives me a grounded, practical understanding of a wide range of life experiences and challenges, whatever your stage of life.
As a researcher I’ve also contributed to psychedelic research at King’s College London, with work published in leading journals such as The Lancet and The New England Journal of Medicine.Â

I work with a wide range of concerns, including:
-
Low mood or depression
-
Anxiety, health anxiety, panic, and phobias
-
OCDÂ
-
Low self-esteem and inner critic issues
-
Alcohol use
-
Life transitions
-
Sexual difficulties (performance anxiety, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, lower sexual desire, orgasm difficulties, painful intercourse, sexual avoidance, compulsive sexual behaviour, body image issues impacting sex).
-
Body image concerns (including body dysmorphia, muscle dysmorphia, and visible difference)
My approach draws on evidence-based models:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
A structured, goal-focused therapy that helps you understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact. I also offer specialist CBT for sexual issues and body image.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
A gentle, non-pathologising model that helps you connect with different parts of yourself, fostering greater self-understanding and internal balance.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
I am currently able to offer EMDR before fully qualifying in December 2025. EMDR is a well-evidenced therapy that supports healing from distress linked to past experiences, phobias, or addiction.Â
Psychedelic Integration
If you've had challenging or meaningful psychedelic experiences, I offer a safe space to explore and make sense of them—supporting you to bring insights into everyday life.
