Steven Reid Therapies
About the Therapist
Hi, I'm Steven, an integrative counsellor offering online therapy across Scotland and in‑person sessions near Glasgow. As a queer practitioner, I know how powerful it can be to have a space where you don’t have to translate yourself or hold anything back. My work is gentle, steady and person‑centred, and I try to meet people exactly where they are — whether you’re exploring identity, navigating relationships, feeling overwhelmed, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply. I’m down‑to‑earth and human in the way I show up. My hope is that you feel welcomed, supported and able to breathe a little easier as we make sense of things together.

My background is in integrative, person‑centred counselling, and my work is shaped by a deep commitment to LGBTQIA+ wellbeing. Over time, I’ve supported people through identity exploration, relationship challenges, anxiety, low mood, shame, internalised homophobia/transphobia, and the emotional impact of minority stress. I’m especially drawn to working with people who feel they’ve had to hide parts of themselves or who are trying to make sense of who they are now.
My approach is gentle, steady and collaborative. I don’t rush or push — we follow what feels important to you. I show up as a real person: warm, grounded, curious and unafraid of the deeper, messier parts of being human. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe enough to bring your whole self into the room, including the parts you’re still figuring out.
Whether we meet online or in person near Glasgow, my aim is to offer a space where you can breathe, feel understood, and slowly build a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, so I’ve designed the first part of the process to be as flexible and low‑pressure as possible, with the focus entirely on your comfort and readiness.
Free 15‑Minute Consultation I offer a free, no‑obligation 15‑minute phone or video consultation. It’s simply a chance for us to meet, for you to ask questions, and for us to get a sense of whether working together feels right.
A Flexible, Seamless Start I build extra time into this initial call so you have two options:
Option 1: Continue Straight Into a Full Session If you feel “in the zone” after our consultation and want to keep going, we can move directly into a full 50‑minute session. This can be helpful if you’re feeling ready and don’t want to lose momentum.
Option 2: Pause and Decide Later You’re equally welcome to end the 15‑minute call, take time to reflect, and get in touch later to book your first full session. There is absolutely no pressure to continue immediately.
Session Fees A full 50‑minute session is £60, whether you continue straight after the consultation or book for another time. You will only be charged if you choose to move beyond the free 15‑minute call.
Sliding Scale (Online Sessions Only) For online therapy, I offer a sliding scale of £40–£60 to support people on lower incomes, students, or anyone who would find the full fee difficult to manage. You’re welcome to choose the rate that feels sustainable for you.
What to Expect in the First Full Session If you choose to continue, our first 50‑minute session is a gentle, collaborative assessment. We’ll explore what brought you here, what you’re hoping for, and how we might work together. We’ll also talk through confidentiality, boundaries and what you can expect from me, so you feel informed and supported from the start.
The whole process is designed to move at your pace, with choice and comfort at the centre.
