David Peña Charlón
About the Therapist
I bring warmth, steadiness and thoughtful challenge to the therapeutic relationship. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, offer reflection and structure, and pay attention to what happens in the body, emotions and patterns of relating.
My work is about helping you understand your experience more fully, develop self-trust, and find new ways of relating with more honesty, care and attention.
As a gay man, I also understand that sexuality, identity and relationships do not exist in isolation. They are shaped by body, culture, family, shame, desire, belonging, loss, power and the need to feel safe enough to be real.

Over the past 16 years, I have supported people through one to one therapy, couples work, group facilitation and workshops. Before becoming a therapist, I worked for many years in social care, supporting vulnerable adults, families and professionals. That experience continues to shape the way I practise: with steadiness, humility, respect for complexity and attention to the whole person.
My approach draws on psychosexual and relationship therapy, trauma informed practice, embodied awareness, attachment thinking, mindfulness and integrative psychotherapy. Alongside conversation, we may pay attention to emotions, bodily sensations, impulses, thoughts, silences and patterns of relating.
In individual therapy, we begin with what feels difficult now and gradually make sense of what may sit beneath the surface. In couples therapy, we look at what takes place between you, and what happens inside each of you, when intimacy, conflict, desire or disconnection appear.
The aim is to create enough safety, clarity and depth for you to meet your experience more fully, loosen old patterns, and find more choice in how you live, desire and relate.
