Paul Christelis
About the Therapist
I myself identify as gay, although I'm comfortable too with 'queer'... To be honest, I tend not to hold too fast to any particular identity. I am who I am, and that is a multifaceted thing - gender and sexuality are just one part of this.
My clients tell me that they appreciate my genuineness, care, non-traditional and friendly approach. I don't shy away from conversations that may be difficult but necessary... I'm here to support you and also to help shine a light on what is sometimes uncomfortable. (And hopefully we can sometimes laugh, in a goodnatured way, at the the human condition!)

I have developed my own way of working as a therapist, over the past twenty five years. In technical terms, I'd say I'm an Integrative Therapist, meaning I draw upon several ways of working (humanistic, psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems, gestalt, mindfulness, body psychotherapy, energy methods). I believe different approaches work for different people so together we will find out what's best for you. At the heart of it though, is our working relationship. If that feels safe and comfortable then the work will happen. I work with a diverse range of people and feel incredibly privileged to help facilitate change, transformation and healing in my clients.
I run my own private practice, teach meditation, and supervise counsellors and therapists. My learning is always ongoing. I'm interested in body psychotherapy for trauma and anxiety, energy psychotherapy, the creative process, LGBTQ issues, life transitions, spiritual and existential questions, prenatal states and how these impact on us as adults, psychedelics, plant medicines, and creative approaches to therapy. I am currently on a two year training to teach Nondual meditation. (Nonduality is the realisation that we are not separate individuals but part of the undivided whole of existence. Recognising yourself as this can fundamentally change your experience of life).
When I'm not working as a therapist I'm probably getting enrichment through the arts, meditating, writing or travelling.
I have experience working with Ayahuasca and psychedelics and have helped clients to integrate such experiences. Recently I completed an Energy Psychotherapy training, working with the body to restore balance and calm when in trauma or stressed.
I work with a diverse range of clients and have over 25 years experience working in organisations, hospitals, education and privately. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email if you'd like any more information or just want to get a feel for how we might work together. Have a look at my website too: www.paulchristelis.com
