Alex Griffin
About the Therapist
I offer a space to embark on your healing path that is warm, supportive, and compassionate. My approach is explorative rather than directive: we will work with what you choose to bring on the day of the session.
Typically, we begin in the here-and-now and, over time, explore how your story has shaped your inner world, your relationships, and your relationship with yourself. You will be invited to talk things through at your own pace. And I in turn will share my reflections, support you to feel through, as well as think through, the issues you’re bringing and, when appropriate, offer gentle challenges.
With over a decade of practice and training in yoga and meditation, I pay careful attention to the connection between mind and body. At times, if appropriate, I may suggest that we work with certain somatic or mindful tools to support the therapeutic process.

Research has found that the strongest predictor for a positive outcome is the quality of the therapeutic relationship. As your therapist, that is a focus I'll bring: how it is you and I can forge a working alliance which feels caring, supportive, and in service of what you need from the space to heal and grow.
I’m interested in how Western psychotherapy and Eastern wisdom traditions can helpfully dovetail. My work integrates approaches such as Internal Family Systems with mindful self-compassion practices. In session, I’m able to offer grounding techniques and simple mindful tools. The purpose of this is to create enough inner breathing room to notice and process what arises for you.
My experience spans a diversity of clients and presentations. These include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, grief, burn out, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, body image issues, gender transition, and sexuality.
