A New Hope Therapy - Matthew
About the Therapist
Hello, I’m Matthew (he/him). I offer online and phone therapy for LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent people—as well as anyone seeking a space where they can finally stop masking, feel heard, and fully be themselves.
I am person-centred and draw upon the principles of existentialism, working with people in a relational way to help create a compassionate space for exploring some of life's deepest questions, such as meaning, freedom, and mortality, while emphasising the importance of a person's autonomy. Having been a client myself and undergone extensive training, I believe the strength of the relationship between therapist and client is paramount.

Using an intersectional approach, I affirm the belief that everyone deserves respect and equitable treatment, regardless of race, class, religion, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation, and value the importance of difference and diversity. A primary focus of my work is with the LGBTQ+ community and neurodivergent people. Having personally experienced the challenges of living in a heteronormative and neurotypical world, I understand the complexities of dealing with feelings of shame and rejection. I believe these feelings can be overcome and I offer a renewed sense of hope for living comfortably and authentically.
