A New Hope Therapy - Matthew
About the Therapist
My name is Matthew (he/him) and I offer support for anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship issues. My specialisation is working with people who are LGBTQ+ and ADHD / Neurodivergent, however, I offer a warm welcome to all. Having personally experienced the challenges of living in a heteronormative and neurotypical world, I understand the complexities of dealing with feelings of shame and rejection. I believe these feelings can be overcome and I offer a new hope for living comfortably and authentically.
People engage in therapy for different reasons and at all stages of life. It could be anything from a desire to discover meaning and purpose or to explore themes of loss and identity. Therapy is an opportunity to talk to someone openly and confidentially in a safe and non-judgemental space.
I champion ongoing mental health maintenance, promoting therapy as a gym membership for the mind, an opportunity to get to know and understand yourself better and a way of allowing you to connect with your core values.

In a therapy session with me I will share my experience of being with you, offering you new insights and perspectives, shining a light on any blind spots you may have and reinforcing your own capacity for growth and self-actualisation. We work at your pace, exploring together in a supportive and collaborative way whilst also looking at what is happening between us.
I practice from a Person-Centred approach, drawing upon Existential principles to help clients navigate life’s challenges and uncover meaning. My work is also informed by an intersectional perspective, affirming that everyone deserves respect and equitable treatment—regardless of race, class, religion, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
