About the Therapist
Alec Glynn Counselling & Psychotherapy
I offer a space where you don’t have to explain or defend who you are. My work centres queer, trans and non-binary experiences, and welcomes anyone who has felt out of place within dominant narratives around identity, mental health, or how a life “should” look.
My approach is person-centred and experiential, grounded in authenticity, building safety within our therapeutic relationship, and making sense of your experience on your own terms.
I welcome clients bringing anything they want to explore, whether clearly defined or not.
I provide an LGBTQIA+, trans, queer, and non-binary and neurodivergent-affirming space.

I work with a wide range of experiences, including identity, trauma, and the impact of navigating systems that haven’t always fit or held you well.
I have experience supporting people who have felt misunderstood or misdiagnosed within services, including those who later identify as neurodivergent, and the impact this can have on self-trust and sense of self.
My background includes several years supporting people in acute emotional distress and suicidality through a national listening service, alongside work in substance use, safeguarding, victim support, and youth justice. This informs a grounded, non-pathologising way of working with distress, risk, and complexity.

I offer sessions at a rate of £40 per 50-minute session. If cost is a barrier to accessing therapy, please feel free to get in touch, as I may be able to offer a reduced fee in some circumstances.
I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation. This provides an opportunity for us to discuss what has brought you to counselling, explore what you hope to gain from therapy, and consider whether working together feels like the right fit for both of us.
