About the Therapist
By the time most people contact me, they're exhausted.
They've spent months, sometimes years, trying to understand themselves. They've read the books, listened to the podcasts, watched the YouTube videos and had the same conversations over and over again. Often they've become experts on their own difficulties, but still don't know how to move forward.
My job isn't simply to listen.
It's to understand you quickly, help you make sense of what's happening and work out what is actually going to help.
You don't need to worry about what you're going to say in the first session.
That's my job.
First I'll help you feel comfortable. Then we'll begin understanding what's been happening, what keeps it going and how we can create meaningful change together.
As a gay therapist, I know LGBTQ+ lives aren't defined by sexuality or gender identity alone. Sometimes those experiences are central to therapy. Sometimes they're almost irrelevant. I don't make assumptions either way. I start by understanding you.
Over the past 15 years I've worked with people experiencing anxiety, OCD, trauma, ADHD, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, shame, sexual difficulties and complex emotional problems. My training includes Integrative Psychotherapy, CBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems, DBT and couples therapy. Rather than asking clients to fit one approach, I draw on whichever therapeutic models are most likely to help your particular circumstances.
People often describe me as warm, friendly and easy to talk to. I appreciate that. But warmth isn't enough.
I also believe you deserve a therapist who can recognise patterns quickly, explain them clearly and use interventions grounded in evidence rather than habit.
No intervention is more important than feeling understood.
Everything else grows from there.

Over more than 15 years, I've worked with people experiencing everything from everyday anxiety and relationship difficulties to trauma, OCD, ADHD and more complex emotional presentations. My experience has taught me that successful therapy isn't about applying the same model to every client. It's about understanding the individual sitting in front of you.
My training spans Integrative Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and couples therapy. Rather than expecting you to fit one therapeutic approach, I draw on the interventions most likely to help your particular circumstances.
People often come to therapy believing something is "wrong" with them. Together, we'll explore how your thoughts, emotions, relationships and life experiences have shaped the ways you've learned to cope. Often the patterns causing distress today once made perfect sense. Understanding those patterns allows us to begin changing them.
I work in a collaborative, active and down-to-earth way. Therapy shouldn't feel like following a script or completing endless worksheets. Equally, it shouldn't be years of talking without direction. My aim is to help you understand yourself more deeply while making steady, meaningful progress towards the life you want to live.
Above all, I believe the most important part of therapy is helping you feel understood. Once that foundation is in place, we can decide together which therapeutic approaches are most likely to help you create lasting change.
