My name is David, a gay mature man with a great deal of both life experience, and extensive experience working as a counsellor. Some of my experiences included working with LGBTQ+ individuals as a counsellor for London Friend. Helping clients who were struggling with their sexuality, including addressing some unhelpful patterns of behaviour, defences, and challenging core beliefs. Aiding clients to effectively manage anxiety, self-doubt, shame and relationship difficulties with increased confidence, authenticity and openness. Gaining new insight with new coping strategies, thus empowering clients to find their inner strength and resilience, therefore, fostering growth.
I am a psychological therapist with many years experience  working with trauma and common mental health problems. As an EMDR consultant I provide guidance to other therapists on the application of this very powerful approach. I am also an accredited CBT therapist, specialising in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and have found  these two approaches work very well together. ACT emphasises the importance of flexibility in adapting  treatment to the individual concerned and I very much subscribe to this ideal.
