Cheryl Hollis
About the Therapist
Hi there! My name is Cheryl (she/her), I’m a neurodivergent, queer, and feminist person-centered counsellor. I have been ethically and consensually non-monogamous in my relationships for almost 20 years and am part of my local polyam and kink communities. I also have non-visible disabilities.
My own experiences have led me to be deeply committed to working in an affirmative manner and embracing diversity in its many forms, including those that I don't have lived experience with. I firmly believe that everyone deserves a space where they can explore their authentic selves without judgment or prejudice.
I hold a deep belief in the power of person-centered therapy, where you are the expert of your own life. As such, I believe in working with you to create a safe space to talk, free from judgement or telling you what to do!
Before counselling, I worked for many years in a Rape Crisis Center in various roles, offering trauma-informed, person-centered and empowering emotional support to survivors of sexual and domestic violence. This is something that has heavily informed my practice as a counsellor.

I offer person-centered therapy, which is a form of therapy which puts you, the client, at the center and emphasises empathy, authenticity and a collaborative approach. It means that I prioritise your needs, emotions, and experiences throughout our sessions, and won’t tell you what to do or how to think.
I also work in a trauma-informed and empowering way; working with you to help you find solutions and insights that feel right for you.
My lived and professional experience and areas of interest include working with neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ clients, BDSM, polyamorous/ethically non-monogamous clients, sexual and domestic violence (including coercive control), historic childhood sexual and emotional abuse (including narcissistic abuse or those who have gone low/no contact), and clients with non-visible disabilities.
