About the Therapist
My journey into counselling was inspired by the events of Covid-19 in 2020, where like the rest of the world I was forced into lockdown, and in my case was plunged into a long period of isolation and deep soul searching. The pandemic made me confront some of my biggest fears, altered the direction of my life and made me realise the changes I needed to make. I took the leap to start training and continued to spend years learning, understanding and processing my own pain which allowed me to hold space for other people’s pain.
I have come through my own struggles & traumas and undertaken years of my own personal therapy, alongside years of clinical, research and training experience. Addressing my own core issues allows me to go to certain depths in myself and thus explore the depths of my client’s lives. I continue to take courses, CPD and further training to keep expanding my knowledge. I know first hand that life can change, no matter how dark, hopeless or impossible life feels. My own struggles and pain has gifted me with qualities that enrich my work with clients. If I hadn’t overcome the darkest parts of my life, I wouldn’t be the person - and the therapist - I am today.

I am qualified in a Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling & Psychotherapy at Brighton University, which equates to a master's level of training. I am registered with the BACP and abide by their ethical framework.
Previously, I studied English Literature at degree level and gained an MA in Creative Writing. Expression and having a voice is important to me, and it is just as important that my clients can have expression and a voice in the room with me.
I volunteered with MindOut as a counsellor for more than two years offering support to LGBTQ+ adults. My Private Practice also supports this and I work in an LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse friendly therapy hub.
I use a Humanistic approach, also known as Person Centred or Client Led, and my approach also involves somatic experience (the mind-body connection). This means I view you as the expert of your life – I am not the clinical, stone-faced professional that will tell you what to do or will just sit there analysing you – I will build a nurturing, therapeutic relationship with you where you can discover who you are and what you need. Humanistic therapy is holistic and works with the here-and-now experience as well as the past. It emphasises becoming our most authentic self, actualising our needs, creating our own meaning and narratives, and viewing the person as a whole being, which includes the person’s embodied experience and relationship to the body. This might involve exploring physical sensations and tensions, intuition and gut feelings, how emotions show up in the body, movement (breathing, meditation, posture, using stim toys) and looking at self-care habits involving food, sleep and exercise, as this is all connected to our well-being. I have worked with chronic pain and in my experience using somatic and creative tools have helped clients understand or even improve their chronic pain. Somatic experience is also a useful tool for dealing with trauma (where the traumas are stored) but this will be done slowly and safely and at the client’s own pace.

My standard fee is £70 and £60 for students. Online fees are also reduced at £60. I offer a free 30 minute phone or Teams consultation to help us decide if we'd like to work together. This can be paid weekly or monthly. It’s helpful to think of it as an investment into your well-being, peace of mind and a space that is all about you – the results from therapy, which are usually lifelong, end up being priceless and life changing.
My usual face to face availability includes Monday afternoon/evenings or Tuesday mornings. My online availability includes Thursday and Friday mornings/afternoons.
