Emma Wallen
About the Therapist
My work is shaped not only by training and experience, but also by my own lived journey. Becoming my most authentic self has not been a straightforward path. I have had to actively unlearn and decentre heteronormative ideas about relationships, identity, and success, while also raising a family and navigating the very real responsibilities and pressures that come with that.
Like many of the people I work with, I have experienced unhealthy relationship dynamics, periods of self doubt, and moments where I knew something needed to change but wasn’t yet sure how. The work I offer now is informed by having moved through those spaces myself, doing both the internal and external work required to live more honestly and relationally.
I am now in a deeply loving and grounded relationship that could only have emerged through that process of change. This has given me a lived understanding of how much courage, patience, and compassion it can take to shift old patterns and create something new. I bring this understanding into the therapy room with care, humility, and respect for each person’s unique journey.
While I don’t use the therapy space to focus on my own story, I believe that who we are matters. Clients often tell me that it helps to know they are working with someone who understands, not just intellectually but experientially, what it can mean to choose yourself, challenge inherited norms, and build relationships that are more aligned and sustaining.
