Guy Butterworth
About the Therapist
I have worked successfully with many people on the challenges of life, helping them to find the answers they’ve been looking for.
Clients have described my work with them as flexible, considerate and professional. Clients have also mentioned that our work together has lead to them to an increased sense of clarity and positivity.
I’ve been working as a counsellor since 2008 but I have plenty of work experience outside of counselling. I've worked in a range of settings with vulnerable people and in other professional roles. I’m supported by a supervisor who ensures that my work with you as a your counsellor is safe and ethical.
- Heterosexual
I completed a Level 5 Post-Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2009.
I'm registered with the National Counselling Society:

We will collaboratively establish clear treatment expectations, goals, and a roadmap. We will talk about the therapeutic process and the anticipated outcomes, which will help you to remain engaged and committed to therapy. We will regularly revisit and adjust these goals based on your progress, which will foster a sense of purpose and accomplishment.
We will develop a strong therapeutic alliance that is found in a supportive, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment. Your feedback and concerns will allow me to adapt to your needs.
My professional experience will allow me to tailor my therapeutic approach to match your unique characteristics and preferences. Rather than use a manualised approach, I like to make use of personalised interventions that depend upon evidence-based practices that resonate with your individual strengths and challenges. We will periodically assess and discuss progress to ensure that the treatment plan remains relevant and effective.
I trained in the person-centred approach. I continue to learn about current approaches to therapy from different perspectives.
I am a qualified professional with training, skills and insurance. I’m an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS22-00867), but my approach is not too formal. Being a counsellor includes having a sense of humour. While we look at whatever it is that’s causing you to look for help, we won’t be afraid to also look at the lighter side of things.
