Jeneseka Alexander - Person-Centred Counsellor
About the Therapist
I'm Jeneseka or Jen (she/her), a person-centred counsellor offering online sessions and in-person sessions to adults in Norwich, Norfolk. In-person counselling takes place at the Charing Cross Centre in Norwich City Centre.
My work is grounded in the humanistic, person-centred approach, placing the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the work. I believe that being genuinely heard, accepted and understood can be deeply restorative, and that each person has an innate capacity for growth when offered the right conditions.
I aim to provide a warm, affirming and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening in your life at your own pace. I work collaboratively, listening carefully and responding with empathy, honesty and respect. My role is not to direct or diagnose, but to walk alongside you as you make sense of your experiences and begin to move towards greater self-understanding and self-compassion.
Clients often describe our work as calm but active, with a steady pace that allows them to show up as they are, without needing to perform or have everything ‘figured out’.

I have experience supporting people exploring identity, including sexuality and gender identity, as well as work with eating-related difficulties, self-esteem, anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges and significant life transitions.
Alongside my private practice, I have worked extensively with young people and adults in third sector and community settings in Norfolk and Waveney, including mental health and wellbeing support at the LGBTQ+ Project; counselling for people experiencing mild to moderate disordered eating at Eating Matters; supporting trans people and their families through the Barbara Ross Association; and working as the Gender Identity Practitioner at MAP youth charity, and Evolve, a support group for young people who are trans, non-binary, intersex and/or questioning their gender.
These experiences have given me a nuanced understanding of the social, relational and systemic pressures many people face, and have strengthened my commitment to providing counselling that is ethical, compassionate and accessible.
