Jon Morgan (online)
About the Therapist
My name is Jon and I am a gay / queer cis-man and trans ally with many years' experience of working as a therapist and counsellor with LGBTQ+ clients at London Friend and LGBT Switchboard Scotland. I have experience working with gender, sexuality and relationship diverse adults (over 18 years) on a range of issues.Â
I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural and Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapist (CBT / REBT) and offer a structured, action oriented and compassionate approach to emotional problems, personal development and growth.
Experience of marginalisation related to our gender, sexuality or non-traditional relationships can create many challenges around fully being ourselves and leading our lives as we would wish. However, like everyone, LGBTQ+ people can also struggle with wider life and wellbeing challenges and I work holistically with clients on a wide range of issues including: -
- Emotional problems e.g. anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, anger
- Low self-esteem and confidence
- OCD, panic attacks, performance anxiety
- Gender and sexuality
- Family or relationship problems
- Work or life goal achievement problems
I work both online and in person in south Manchester and am happy to have a free initial 20’ phone consultation so you can see if you would like to work with me.

My type of therapy is a branch of CBT called REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy). I work in a structured, compassionate and supportive way to help you find a clear way through difficult situations, life events or decisions and to manage overwhelming emotions. This approach can help make these complex issues more manageable and we can start to address them bit by bit.
I offer a supportive, friendly and inclusive safe space for you to explore any difficulties you are experiencing without judgement or bias. I will share insights, offer practical strategies and work with you to access your own inner resources and find the best way for you to achieve your goals and live a happier and healthier life. Through our work you will discover that you have more influence than you might think over how you respond to life’s challenges. We will work collaboratively and move beyond talking into supporting you to take action and make real changes in your life.
