Julia Fry Online
About the Therapist
I’m Julia Fry (she/her), and I offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults online via Zoom. I work in a warm, open, and neurodivergent-affirming way — helping people process life experiences, manage overwhelm, and move towards authentic self-acceptance.
What You Can Expect in Our Work Together
Many of my clients start therapy feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or like they’re constantly masking to fit in. You might feel stuck between who you are and who you feel you’re “supposed” to be. Maybe you’ve internalized negative messages from others — about how you think, feel, or communicate.
Together, we’ll gently explore all parts of you — including the ones that feel harder to share. Over time, this process can lead to self-acceptance, softer inner voices, and more space to live as your real self — not your masked or “ideal” self (although you might want or need to mask sometimes).

My Approach: How I Work and What You Might Experience
I blend listening, reflecting, and offering — to support your exploration in a way that feels affirming, respectful, and safe. At the center of this model is empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard — foundations of person-centred therapy.
My style is gentle, non-judgmental, client-led, and adapted to how you best process things. I draw from:
• Person-centred therapy (Carl Rogers & Natalie Rogers): Healing through relationship — led by you
• Creative methods: For when talking alone isn’t enough (art, imagination, metaphor)
• Parts work & trauma-informed models: Including Internal Family Systems (Schwartz), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and polyvagal-informed approaches
• Body-based work: For nervous system regulation and trauma healing (van der Kolk, Levine)
• Self-compassion approaches (Gilbert, Brach, Neff)
I centre neurodivergent experiences — including sensory needs, burnout, executive dysfunction, masking, and special interests — and I adapt my approach to what feels right for you.
My Experience and Background
I’ve worked as a counsellor for over 4 years — and as a trauma-informed coach for more than 20 years. My therapeutic and coaching work focuses on affirming and empowering people, especially those navigating life as neurodivergent adults or children in an ableist world.
Settings I’ve worked in include:
• MacMillan: cancer & serious illness
• Swan Women’s Centre: complex trauma
• Place2Be: school-based counselling (ND and neurotypical children)
• Arts for the Blues: creative group therapy delivery
I support ND clients in reclaiming self-worth, letting go of the pressure to mask or conform, and designing a life that works for them — not against them. I can include blended coaching and therapy, depending on your comfort and needs.
Areas I Support
- • Autistic experience / ADHD (including AuDHD)
- • Burnout & masking exhaustion
- • Anxiety & overwhelm
- • Self-criticism and shame
- • Trauma / PTSD / cPTSD
- • Gender and LGBTQIA2S+ experiences
- • Creative blocks / identity struggles

- • Life transitions / work stress / relationships
Inclusion and Identity
I work with people of all genders, sexualities, races, abilities, and identities. I welcome feedback and questions — and I’m open to being challenged, especially if I make mistakes.
My practice is rooted in anti-oppressive values. I regularly use creative and therapeutic tools to reflect on my own positionality, assumptions, and experiences of privilege.
I’m a white, cisgender woman with fluid sexuality and self-identified AuDHD. I’ve been awaiting formal assessment since 2020. I bring both lived experience and deep respect into my work with neurodivergent people — but I’ll never assume your experience is the same as mine.
