Kat Halstead
About the Therapist
I'm an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist who works with clients to create a safe, non-judgemental space to explore, understand, and move forward at their own pace. I have lived experience of questioning sexuality and same-sex attraction, and strive to provide a place for others to discuss their own experiences without fear of being judged or dismissed. We all struggle at some point in life, so whether you’re feeling anxious, depressed, confused, stuck in a destructive pattern, troubled by events in the past, or unsure about your direction in life, starting therapy can be a powerful first step towards a better future.
First and foremost, we’ll work together to build a space that feels comfortable, where you can be as open and honest as possible. This can often feel vulnerable, especially when we’re used to putting on masks for people or editing our behaviour in different situations. But my experience as an integrative counsellor means we can adapt how we work to suit your needs.
In terms of my background, I’m educated to Bachelors and Masters level, and graduated with distinction in Integrative Counselling & Coaching from the University of East London. Previously to that I trained with the The Manor House Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling, and The Counselling Foundation.
My approach is mainly person-centred, and I believe that building a strong relationship and holding the space for you to discover, understand and grow is key. Different things resonate with different people, so I will always work with you to use approaches and techniques that fit best with your beliefs, personality, and experiences. As well as person-centred work, I also pull from psychodynamic and existential training, as well as the principles of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and coaching, depending on what you’re hoping to get from your sessions.
If you have any questions, all are welcome. Feel free to contact me on kat@khtherapy.co.uk
I offer a free 15-20-minute online consultation session via video call. This is for us to meet and discuss how we might work together. It’s an opportunity to ask any questions or voice any concerns, as well as get a general feel for whether it’s a good fit.
If you decide to move forward with me as your therapist, we will then arrange a time for us to meet weekly online for a 50-minute session.
