About the Therapist
I am an accredited and experienced Trauma Psychotherapist and Supervisor. I work Mondays to Thursdays during the day both face to face from my home in Edinburgh as well as online. Sessions are £60, with a limited number of concession spaces at £50. The fee for trainee therapists is also £50. Â
I identify as a queer woman who came out in later life due to growing up in an evangelical background. I am now married to my wife and we have an adopted son. I work with individuals who are 16+ and have some limited spaces for couples. I offer a warm, relaxed relational approach using humour and a flexible style that can allow me to work with your agenda rather than imposing my own. As a supervisor I offer the process model known as the 7 eyed model (Hawkins and Shohet).
I offer face to face consultations from an office in my home in Edinburgh. I also work online using Whereby and I offer walk and talk therapy using a cycle path that runs from right outside my home.Â

I have been in Private Practice since 2010. I am psychodynamically trained but I also work relationally and creatively. That means I look at who a client is within the context of the web of relationships and the environment they grew up in and I am interested in how the experiences of our pasts may be being projected into our now and may be biting us on the bum! I am interested in how our bodies hold memories and useful information in the form of physical sensations like a tight chest, sweaty palms, adrenaline rushes, fight/ flight reactions that signpost us but also take us into autopilot and sometimes cause us to do things we wish we hadn’t. This is called polyvagal theory and somatic processing.I find it useful to use aspects of Internal Family Systems therapy which helps us visualise that we often have inner conflict within our bodies with parts that hold trauma, parts that are protective of us and enable us to fragment in order to survive and other parts that seek to minimise suffering and pain through addiction and disconnecting from the body but how we need to learn to integrate all these parts to work together through the central system known as our ‘true self’ or our healthy adult/ wise mind…..whatever appeals most to you. Sometimes I use more creative/ playful techniques to help people access their own subconscious, if you feel safe enough to do soI am able to tailor make an approach that works best for you and I also encourage you to play an active role in deciding what that should look like. Humour, safe boundaries and warm relational connection underpin everything I do.
