Kirstine Hunter
About the Therapist
My name is Kirstine Hunter (she/her). I am a qualified humanistic counsellor and have been working with clients for over 7 years. My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect for your individual experience.
I offer a supportive and non-judgemental space to explore whatever feels important to you. I have experience working with a range of concerns, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, identity-related issues, and bereavement.
I work collaboratively, taking time to understand what makes you unique and adapting my way of working to who you are. Together, we can explore ways of making sense of your experiences and supporting you to feel less overwhelmed.
- Lesbian
I hold a BSc and Diploma in Humanistic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute and have over seven years’ experience working as a counsellor.
Alongside my core training, I have completed additional training including a foundation course in CBT and short courses focused on neurodiversity. This learning informs my practice where appropriate, alongside my humanistic approach.

My experience as a therapist includes working across a range of settings. I worked for four years within a bereavement service and for two years within an LGBTQIA+ charity, alongside my private practice.
Working with loss is an important part of my approach. This includes not only bereavement, but also losses connected to identity, relationships, health, or life changes. My previous work within the health sector, particularly in a cancer setting, has shaped my understanding of how loss and change can affect emotional wellbeing.
I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on your needs. I work with curiosity and care, supporting you to explore what has been lost, what may feel uncertain, and what hope or meaning might look like moving forward. Where helpful, my work can include offering tools to support resilience and coping, alongside relational therapeutic work.
