About the Therapist
"That of which we are not aware, owns us." — James Hollis
I am a professionally qualified Psychodynamic Therapist based in Edinburgh, with extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals and couples and people exploring sexuality and identity.
Edinburgh's diverse LGBTQ+ community has shaped my practice since 2012. I've worked with people navigating a wide range of experiences — from the impact of minority stress to relationship difficulties and the search for a more authentic sense of self.
Central to my work is an understanding of how internalised shame — whether rooted in homophobia or in earlier experiences unrelated to sexuality — takes root and shapes the way we see ourselves and relate to others. Shame can often manifest as a chronic expectation of rejection, a suppression of needs, and a gradual repression of the 'true self'; unconscious processes that operate outside of our awareness, yet profoundly limit how freely we are able to live.
I offer in-person therapy in Edinburgh and work online with clients across the UK and Europe.
Prior to becoming a Psychodynamic Therapist in 2012 I worked in finance for over 10 years as a Learning and Development Consultant and Leader. I've considerable experience in supporting different levels of employees to use Psychodynamic thinking in their careers including understanding unconscious dynamics in teams. I'm a Senior Associate Member of The Association for Psychodynamic Practice
and Counselling in Organisational Settings (APPCIOS).

I also have an interest in linguistics; how we communicate with others and with ourselves can fundamentally impact the nature of our personal and professional relationships; how we feel about ourselves and see the world is filtered through the language we use. I can support you to develop advanced communication skills which are closely linked to self worth.
Neurodivergence is something I am deeply curious about and have undertaken basic training with the National Autistic Society (Women and Girls on the Autism Spectrum).
