Luz Villarrubia
About the Therapist
I am a qualified therapist and clinical supervisor with more than a decade of experience. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals from various backgrounds and specialise in Gestalt therapy, which is focused on being present in the moment. As a therapist, I recognise the importance of building a strong relationship with my clients, which is why I create a welcoming, non-judgmental, and understanding atmosphere for you to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we will work collaboratively to find new ways to approach the challenges you're facing. I have extensive experience working with individuals facing a wide range of challenges. I specialise in long-term health conditions, sexual health, and relationship issues. I also help people with integrating intercultural experiences and navigating issues related to gender and sexuality. My practice is grounded in a commitment to being LGBTQ+ affirmative and culturally competent, so you can feel confident that I'll provide a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. It's my priority to ensure that all my clients feel respected and supported, regardless of their background or identity. Moreover, I am fluent in Spanish, which allows me to cater to clients who are more comfortable communicating in their native language. I offer sessions on Zoom and from Central Brighton. If you're interested in knowing more about my services or scheduling an appointment, please feel free to contact me.

Since the early 90s, I've been deeply committed to supporting those impacted by HIV. Over the past eight years, I've headed up the counselling services at Brighton's Terrence Higgins Trust, offering emotional support and guidance to help people better manage their health and improve their mental wellbeing. This long-term experience has shaped me into a more understanding and resilient therapist, strengthening my dedication to the LGBTQ+ community. I stand ready to provide support to those dealing with life's toughest challenges. My counselling style is rooted in Gestalt therapy. This approach centres on the present moment and 'the here and now', believing that this focus can help us understand ourselves better. In my sessions, I create a judgement-free and supportive environment where my clients can comfortably explore their thoughts and emotions. I use an integrative approach with my clients, bringing together various theories and techniques to best meet each person's unique needs. I'm a firm believer in everyone's ability to grow and change. My goal is to stand by my clients as they tackle life's challenges, helping them gain new insights and perspectives along the way. Â
