Mili Layla
About the Therapist
My aim is to provide a thoughtful, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly about your experiences and explore whatever feels important to you. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about aspects of their lives, relationships or identity. Therapy can offer a place to slow down, reflect and begin to understand these experiences more deeply.
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on how our past relationships and experiences shape how we feel about ourselves and how we relate to others in the present. Together we may explore patterns, emotions and relational dynamics that may be difficult to think about alone.
I recognise that our emotional lives are shaped not only by personal history but also by culture, family expectations and wider social experiences. This can include experiences connected to sexuality, gender identity, race, migration, belonging or feeling different in some way.
I welcome LGBTQ+ clients, including people who may be exploring questions around identity, relationships or self-acceptance. My aim is to offer a respectful and supportive environment where all aspects of your experience can be explored at your own pace.
I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, with sessions lasting 50 minutes. I also offer a free initial phone consultation so we can briefly discuss what you’re looking for and whether working together feels like the right fit.

I hold an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck, University of London.
My clinical experience includes working in psychotherapeutic services, bereavement support and crisis listening roles. In these settings I have supported people experiencing grief, trauma, anxiety, depression and significant life changes. This work has given me experience in holding complex emotional experiences with care and sensitivity.
My approach is relational and psychodynamic. This means that alongside exploring the concerns that bring you to therapy, we may also pay attention to emotional patterns that develop in relationships, including within the therapeutic relationship itself. Understanding these patterns can help illuminate how past experiences continue to influence present feelings and ways of relating.
I work with a wide range of concerns including:
-
Anxiety and depression
-
Identity exploration and self-esteem
-
Sexuality and gender identity
-
Relationship and intimacy difficulties
-
Family dynamics and cultural expectations
-
Grief and loss
-
Trauma and past experiences
-
Feelings of difference, shame or not belonging
I aim to provide a steady and compassionate space where you can reflect on your experiences, develop greater self-understanding and begin to move towards living in a way that feels more authentic and connected.
