About the Therapist
I've always looked after people for my job. In my 20 years of working on bodies, I noticed many people just couldn't let some manual therapies 'in' or some tension/pain 'out'
Their bodies we 'holding' despite the person's best efforts. I wanted to find a way to help the person who had all the scans and still no answers from the Dr. The persistent sticky shoulder, migraines or lower back issues.
This lead me to find Somatic work. Trauma in the body. No matter how it manifests. In behavior patterns, life choices or bodies that just can't give something up. Working Somatically can help people work through whatever their system is holding onto. Without having to talk about 'the thing' 100 times (again)
You can find me at 2 London clinics. Tuesdays -Light Center, Monument, near London Bridge. Thursdays and the 3rd Saturday of each month -Laura Ryan Therapies, Norwood Junction, South London.

My focus is on providing Somatic Trauma Therapy. It's slow and rather strange at first. I will help you learn how to use 'felt sense' and feel into the body, listening for feedback and signals. Between us, we'll figure out, what's the gym circuit class, what's lunch, and what's an unprocessed trauma sitting in your system. We will figure out what helps you stay feeling grounded and work with whatever the body feels safe enough to give us on that day. Everyone's healing path is unique to them. But they are all slow, and lead with kindness and curiosity. We are working through the nervous system, which needs us to stick to a slow pace, and keep to the 'edges' of what comes up in order to create change.
Your body may move, twitch, yawn, cry, shudder, have a multitude of sensation changes and emotions show. Nothing is unwelcome, and we will always work in your window of tolerance.
The manual work on scars and fascia, is usually done on the massage couch. It's different to massage. It's slow and quiet, and can produce the same kind of bodily releases as the Somatic Trauma Therapy session. It can be used along side the 'felt sense' when appropriate in someone's somatic healing journey.

You do not have to stick to any per-determined schedule. Book when you are ready for your next session, or regularly at a frequency that suits you best.
My values revolve around economic justice and inclusivity within therapy. I firmly believe therapy should be accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances. As a result I’ve established a sliding scale model inspired by Partisan Collective and Alexis J. Cunningfolk’s Green Bottle Scale.
I do not ask for proof of income. Instead I operate on a foundation of trust, focusing on tailoring therapy to your needs, regardless of the price you pay.
Below I’ve provided four tiers, each have descriptions to assist you in selecting the rate that corresponds with your financial set-up.
Please bear in mind that my availability for low and solidarity slots are limited due to high demand. Unfortunately I do not maintain a wait list for these slots due to the number of inquiries I regularly receive.
If you are unsure about which tier you sit on, feel free to discuss with me via email or during our free 15 min consultation.
Solidarity £60
I am able to meet my basic needs* but I have to actively think about meeting them in the most affordable ways I can. I have small, varying amounts of expendable income** which means budgeting is often a big source of stress. I need to live in the cheapest place available to me and I struggle to afford any holidays/trips away.
My lack of savings, family support and inherited wealth (currently and in the future) means that I worry about my financial future.
Low £75
I need to keep an eye on my expendable income, which can be a source of concern but I’m able to consider the desirability of where I live in my accommodation choices, and can afford one holiday/trip away each year.
My modest savings***, family support and inherited wealth (currently and in the future) give me a small safety net if I ever needed it. This means I don’t often need to worry about my financial future.
Standard £85
Spending my expendable income doesn’t cause me regular concern or stress and I can do so in ways that bring me satisfaction. I rent a desirable property or own my own home, and can consider going on more than one holiday/trip away each year.
I have either sizable savings****, family support if need be, or inherited wealth (or I stand to inherit money/assets in the future). This means I don’t often need to worry about the debt I have or my financial future
Standard Plus £95
I feel comfortable not having to worry too much about using my expendable income. I will carefully consider larger purchases, but can spend day-to-day without concern. I can afford to choose higher end products. I rent or own a desirable property, and can afford several holidays/trips away each year.
I have sizable savings****, and/or family support/inherited wealth. Leaving me feeling financially secure.
I am happy to pay an extra £10 to help give more solidarity spaces to others. I know this will be greatly appreciated by those who need them. (Thank-you)
*Basic needs include food, housing, clothing and transportation
**Expendable income might mean you are able to buy coffee or tea at a shop, go to events like the cinema or gigs, buy new clothes, books and similar items each month
***Modest savings might be anything around a month’s salary
****Sizable savings might be anything over two month’s salary
