Neil Turner MA
About the Therapist
People reach out to me for many different reasons, often they are struggling with difficult thoughts and feelings that they would like help to understand or want to feel better about themselves or the next chapter in their lives.
Back in the 80s and 90s I studied and then worked in Design before retraining as a Psychotherapist. I now offer integrative Psychotherapy with a modern and creative approach. I draw on different models and have a relational approach, which means we discuss and explore your life. I don’t silently observe you. Instead we work collaboratively to best understand what is causing you to feel stuck, unhappy or dissatisfied.
“Neil’s helped me understand so much about myself, particularly how my family set up and past experiences have shaped the person I am and how I’ve been feeling about myself. He’s helped me challenge my own beliefs resulting in a transformation in my self-esteem. I’m the most confident version of myself to date and for the first time in my life I really like the person I am.” June 2023

In my practice I explore the cause of anxiety, unhappiness or distress and provide practical solutions to help you move forward. You may also want help dealing with ongoing challenges such as relationship difficulties or addressing work-life balance as well as finding more meaning and purpose. Is there a lack of aliveness, purpose or belonging? Do you struggle with fitting in or joining in and worry about what other people think or about the future? Perhaps how you appear to the outside world doesn't quite match with how you really feel on the inside.
I believe talking therapy offers a great opportunity to understand these difficulties where we might feel stuck and as a result then feel more free to move on with our lives. I also provide a number of practical and easy to use tools that transform self limiting thoughts and beliefs, anxiety and self-doubt, which can further support you between session.
Other areas I often work with include: family estrangement, insomnia, scapegoating, abuse, addiction, heartbreak, grief, feeling there is something wrong with you, rejection and shame, bullying, building confidence with your gender or sexual identity, finding your purpose and healing from past trauma and psychological wounds.
"Through therapy I have learned that all the answers are inside myself, that I have the solutions. I have learned techniques to tap into them and to trust myself and my own insight more. Instead of running away from myself when I am panicking about something, I can now turn towards myself and face the difficulties I might be facing with more confidence.” Oct 2018
