I have worked in mental health since 1999. Having insufficient GCSEs' I passed the entrance exam for mental health nurse training. This enabled me to progress towards a nursing degree. From here, I went on to train in cognitive behaviour therapy and then Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. I am told I have an easy going style and a non-judgemental world view is, in my view, an integral part of being an effective therapist. I like to work in a solution focussed way though also recognise that some client's have longer term needs and I can adapt to this.

I combine EMDR and CBT, with an emphasis on more contemporary models such as ACT and metacognitive therapy. I began my career in the NHS, working in varying settings across 15 years. I set up my own private practice in 2016 and while I continue to offer consultation to NHS services and private therapists, the bulk of my work is clinical.
