Tom Cowan Person-Centred Counselling Online for Individuals and Couples/Relationships
About the Therapist
We are beautifully complex human beings and our issues as LGBTQ+ people often stem from the negative and harmful messages that are internalised from cultures, families, friends and increasingly engagement with social media.
My intention is to discover with you what it is that you think and feel when given the space to express yourself freely, without fear of judgement.
I’ve worked with LGBTQ+ clients seeking support with anxiety, depression, addiction, self harm, post traumatic stress, bereavement/loss, gender identity, sex, sexuality, kink, relationships, ADHD/Autism and more.
If you're contemplating starting counselling then I encourage you to contact me for a free, confidential 20 minute video call. This is a chance for me to learn more about what you need and answer any questions you might have, so we can understand if I'm the right counsellor for you at this time.

Do you ever have that experience of wishing you could say what was really going on but holding back?
Do you push down your own feelings and needs, offer a 'smile' or an 'I'm fine' when really you want to let it all out and take up some space?
You can be real, honest, expressive and however else you need to be in person-centred counselling.
This might be the right kind of therapy for you if you have or are currently experiencing:
- worry or anxiety
- depression or low mood
- recurring thoughts and feelings related to traumatic events as a result of sexual, emotional or physical abuse
- negative or intrusive thoughts
- work pressures including burnout and discrimination
- family challenges inc. estrangement
- difficulty communicating your needs in intimate relationships
- feelings of loneliness or isolation
- issues around sex, sexuality or gender
- loss or bereavement
- addiction/unwanted behaviours
- challenges related to ADHD/Autism
Perhaps you would like to:
- feel calm and connected
- be respected, valued and heard
- take steps to improve your mental health
- reduce distress and anxiety
- experience more positive thoughts and feelings towards yourself and others
- discover more meaning, direction and purpose in your life
- develop more confidence communicating in your relationships with others
- realise your potential to change, grow and thrive
- be supported to find strategies and solutions that work for you
If you've read this and are ready to take the next step then you can contact me by email, text message or through my website to arrange a free, confidential 20 minute video call.

Before our first session we will have a 20 minute video call for you to ask any questions you might have.
I may ask you some of the following questions:
- Why you are looking for counselling now?
- What do you hope to get from it?
- Have you had therapy before? What happened?
- What worked well for you and what didn't?
- How would working online be for you?
- Do you have a safe enough space to talk freely?
- How might you know when it's time to end therapy?
This is an opportunity to meet each other before committing to ongoing counselling.
Are you ready to talk? If so, then please get in touch via my website - www.tomcowan.info
