Kip Erev
About the Therapist
I’m Kip, and I’m an art psychotherapist based in Sussex. I am queer, trans and neurodivergent and have a wealth of experience supporting others.
Many people find that art therapy works for them as the sensory and creative experiences it offers help them to explore their emotions and selves on a deeper level. Using art materials can also help us be more present with our feelings in a contained way.
You do not need to be 'good' at art! Some people prefer to make lots and talk very little; others prefer talking and making art occasionally. Whatever your preference, we can find the right approach for you.
I primarily offer in-person sessions in Brighton but can provide online sessions too.
I recognise that we are all deeply affected by the systems we exist within and the oppressions, marginalisations and power dynamics which arise from these contexts. I practice in an anti-discriminatory way and welcome all forms of difference.
I consider myself to be always learning and striving to deepen my practice. I will always reflect deeply and creatively about how I can best support you.

My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic, meaning I value the importance of early experiences and significant relationships, and work with structures of the psyche, such as the conscious and unconscious. I work in a trauma-informed way, meaning I prioritise establishing a secure sense of safety and containment before we delve into any trauma, and use somatic and creative techniques to help you feel safe and grounded.
I take a warm, playful, and curious approach to your inner world and see you as the expert in your own life. I do not have all the answers, but believe that you can find these inside yourself; I can help you be with your feelings and explore them with support so you can find your way through.
I have experience supporting people with grief and loss (in many forms), transition and/or dysphoria, suicidal ideation, personality 'disorders', neurodivergence, isolation, navigating change, trauma and complex trauma, attachment and relationships, anxiety, depression, faith and spirituality, challenges around identity, confidence, and self-esteem.
