Counselling can provide a place for honesty for all the battles in our heads, from medical diagnoses, anxieties, past trauma, sexual desires, issues of gender, to self doubt and everyday compulsive negative thinking. The understanding of our own experience, in a challenging world that offers such contradictory explanations that can leave us feeling isolated and overwhelmed. I bring both gentle understanding and thoughtful challenge to our work, helping you explore edges of growth while honouring the courage it takes to show up authentically. Through this process of genuine self-discovery, many clients find themselves developing a more compassionate relationship with themselves, increased emotional resilience, and a clearer sense of their values and direction. Ultimately, our work together aims to help you live with greater freedom, purpose, and connection to what matters most to you.
Life can change in ways that leave you feeling untethered from who you were. Grief, divorce, illness, role changes, or other unexpected transitions can quietly reshape your identity, your relationships, and your sense of direction. You may be functioning on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, numb, or not quite like yourself underneath. You may be struggling to function and feel shame about not living up to who you once were. You might wonder whether what you’re experiencing is grief, anxiety, burnout, or something else entirely.

Perhaps you are navigating a troubling time, that comes with difficult and unwelcome feelings such as anxiety, heartbreak, loneliness. Maybe a relationship is ending; you are in the shock of bereavement, a quarter or mid-life threshold, going through the menopause, experiencing loneliness.  Maybe you want to explore your identity and who you really are and this might feel risky. Or maybe you feel overwhelmed by the array of identities, and your own unknowing. Maybe you yearn for change, but it eludes you.Â
I primarily work with intersectional identities and the difficulties that can come with these. My main areas of interest and experience are queer identities, gender (including cis, trans, non-binary, and those with DSD/intersex conditions), polyamorous and non-monogamous relationships, families with mixed ethnic and/or religious backgrounds, growing up as a third culture child, Kink/BDSM, disability/illness (including hidden), surviving domestic abuse, and difficult parented relationships. I also have a particular interest in the intersection of faith and sexuality/gender (especially Islam) and a lot of experience in supporting parents and partners of trans+ people through their unique and specific journeys.
I offer a warm, non-judgmental space for us to explore your problems. I have experience helping people struggling with anxiety, depression & relationship problems. I have particular experience supporting the LGBT+ community and men seeking therapy.
Hi, I’m Darren. I work with LGBTQ+ clients and their allies as a psychodynamic counsellor. My approach combines the deep, reflective thinking of psychoanalysis with a warm, supportive and collaborative counselling framework. As a queer therapist, I have a passion for supporting LGBTQ+ clients in working through life’s difficulties and challenges, and helping to drive meaningful and lasting change.
I’m Jon Wise, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering a calm, affirming space for LGBTQ+ clients, particularly gay men. Many people I work with come feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure why certain patterns in their relationships or sense of self keep repeating. You might notice overthinking, self-doubt, or difficulty trusting your own needs. I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space where we can begin to make sense of these experiences together, including the impact of shame, identity, and past relationships, and find ways of relating that feel more grounded and authentic.
