Hi, I’m Jo, and I’m looking forward to meeting you. After several years as a secondary school music teacher, followed by a second career working with young adults in an international non-profit setting, I qualified as a therapist in 2003 and completed an MSc in Counselling Studies (Advanced Practice) from Edinburgh University in 2009. I am a Clinical Associate of Pink Therapy and a member of the faculty of the Advanced Diploma in GSRD Therapy. My particular specialism within GSRD is working with asexuality, and have recently authored a book chapter: ‘the sex lives of asexuals’.

I am a UKCP and BACP registered Integrative Arts Psychotherapist, an integrative child and adolescent counsellor, Advanced Accredited Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversities Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, independent therapeutic trainer, alongside my work as a groupworker and activist. I am a Black Issues Masterclass Graduate and a member of the Black African and Asian Therapists Network and ex Leadership member of that organisation. The crux of my work as a therapist is to provide affirmative, anti-oppressive support to traumatised adults, adolescents and children from racialised and working-class LGBTQIA+ communities. I am a European Association for Gestalt Therapy (EAGT)–accredited Gestalt psychotherapist specialising in LGBT+/GSRD-affirmative psychotherapy and supervision. I am a clinical associate and faculty member at Pink Therapy, UK, and a member of the Research Council at the Centre for Social Queer Studies, at the University of Warsaw.
