Hi, I’m Ellis J. Johnson. I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, trainer, supervisor, speaker and group facilitator with extensive experience in working alongside trans, non-binary, queer and questioning people. I deliver training to counsellors in working affirmatively around gender and also deliver training in trans awareness, and in anti-racist practice, to organisations around the country and internationally. I also provide external supervision and consultation for a number of third-sector organisations. In the past I have provided counselling for an NHS Wellbeing service, a charity offering free counselling to trans and non-binary people, and I have worked with students
I am a ‘talk’ therapist, art therapist and Supervisor, based in Ireland. Since March 2020, I have been working primarily online. I am accredited by IACP, BACP, UKCP and IACAT and am a Clinical Associate of Pink Therapy UK. I hold a Diploma in Integrative Supervision from The Psychosynthesis Trust UK. I have a special interest in trauma, sexual violence, abusive relationships and gender and sexual diversity.
I have experience, training and knowledge about LGBTQIA+, kink/BDSM, polyamory / non-monogamy, neurodiversity and other variations in gender, sexuality and relationships. Generally this is only context, but given the societal lack of understanding and oppression, legal and otherwise, diversity or uniqueness often come up. I work with individuals, couples and larger intimately related groups. Specialisations: relationships; trauma and dissociation; ways in which the body-mind expresses itself somatically; cultural differences. I have forensic experience. I am deeply non-judgemental about “criminal” records, “offences” and accusations. Sex work is work; sex workers are most welcome.
I’m no longer taking on therapy clients, I am focussing instead on offering specialist supervision and consultation to therapists of all gender and sexualities and theoretical models.
Whether you’re anxious, stuck, unable to live to your fullest potential, having difficulty in your relationships with others or with yourself, each of us has a unique story that requires an equally unique approach with a qualified, sensitive therapist. I’m an experienced BACP-registered queer non-binary relational integrative psychotherapist and edited Queering Psychotherapy (Karnac, 2022). Grounded in intersectional practice and working with LGBTQIA+ clients since 2014 in a gentle and invitational way, it’s my hope – wherever you are in your therapy journey – that you’ll leave feeling you understand and accept yourself better, and more connected to your agency.
Whatever brings you to therapy, I will help you to explore your thoughts and feelings, and locate your own solutions to the problems you are facing. I offer a professional, confidential, non-judgemental service. I am an experienced LGBTQ+ affirmative therapist with practices in London Bridge, Edgware/Mill Hill, and online.
Modern, trauma-informed therapist holding an advanced accreditation in GSRD therapy. I specialise in abuse (specifically narcissism), addiction. sex work/adult industry professionals, kink and relationships. Since setting up as a therapist in 2013, I have worked and trained in a large range of issues. I combine different therapeutic styles and theories, with my own knowledge from lived experiences, to create an approach which is warm, non-judgemental but willing to get deep into the root of what is happening for you. I will work with you on changes that you want to make or areas that you want to explore.
Are you frightened no one will accept you if you come out? I help LGBTQ+ people find the courage to stop being who others want them to be. Sick of being judged? Want to be believed for you really are? Let me help, get in touch today.
