In the past, I’ve worked as a volunteer therapist for LGBTQ+ charities such as, London Friend and The Terrence Higgins Trust for 3 years. I am experienced in working with issues related to anxiety, depression, shame, gender dysphoria, homophobia, complex family dynamics, bereavement, grief, addiction, self-loathing and feeling marginalised due to race, gender or sexuality.

I’m David Lutton, a UKCP and BPC registered psychodynamic psychotherapist based in Central London and online. I provide once-weekly open-ended psychotherapy, offering a reflective and non-judgmental space to explore identity, relationships, emotional challenges, and unconscious patterns. I work with queer people particularly and activists, and those affected by stress, burnout and insomnia.  

I’m a relational psychotherapist, experienced in working with issues to do with gender and sexuality, relationship diversity (polyamory, non-monogamy etc) and provide an LGBTQ+ affirmative practice, but welcome clients from all backgrounds. I am mindful of the social, cultural and structural issues involved in the difficulties we face as individuals. I believe that therapy can help with so many issues, whether they feel vague or specific, and allow us to come to a better understanding of ourselves and our histories so we can live fuller, more authentic lives.

I’m experienced in helping people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, loneliness or sex and relationship difficulties. I’m a lead psychologist for NHS services and have a background in specialist services for sexual health. I understand how looking for a therapist can be daunting, possibly quite overwhelming. I therefore offer a free initial telephone consultation of 15-20 minutes. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what you’re struggling with and how I could help before deciding whether to book further sessions. I’m currently accepting new clients for online therapy on weekday evenings.
