Mindfulness-based core process psychotherapy (MBCPP) combines Buddhist psychology and psychodynamic psychotherapy. My work is underpinned by Buddhist principles of mindfulness, compassion and unconditional acceptance and also explores our early development and wounding and how we came to be in relationship with others. Originally from South Africa, I have a gentle, creative and down-to-earth approach and work with those affected by childhood trauma and relationship difficulties.

I have been involved with counselling and psychotherapy since the early 1990s when I worked with radical community and activist mental health services as a provider and participant. This remains a passion. I draw on social justice frameworks and particularly welcome people who are neurodivergent, fat, poly, working class or doing sex work. In the 1990s I volunteered with the Terrence Higgins Trust. I trained at Richmond College and Thames Valley University, with studies in couple and sex therapy at Birkbeck College. I’ve been a counsellor at West London Centre for Counselling, a group facilitator for male survivors of sexual abuse at Survivors UK, and a sex therapist for a national newspaper. At City Lit Institute I’ve offered professional development workshops, facilitated personal development groups and taught trainee counsellors.
