About the Therapist
I believe that we are all influenced by the relationships we have had in the past, as well as by those we have in the present. Â
I have a Masters in Clinical Science in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, from the University of Kent, and  an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling from Birkbeck College, University of London. I have worked for the past fourteen years with children, young people and adults within schools, charities, universities and the NHS.
As well as being in private practice I currently run the Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Psychodynamic Counselling at the University of Brighton. Until December 2016 I also worked as a psychological therapist with the Firefighters Charity, working with trauma and injury. I spent the previous five years as director of the Waymark Counselling Service, in Canterbury, and as a senior lecturer in health at Canterbury Christchurch University. I have previously been employed as a counsellor by several organisations, including Barnardo's, Family Service Units and Thanet Counselling Services.

The development, and the loss, of relationships affects how we are able to cope with stress and difficulties.  I work by listening to the issues you bring, sometimes asking questions, sometimes making suggestions. Because these are your sessions you may ignore me, disagree with me or, hopefully, sometimes find my thoughts helpful.I am a registered psychotherapist with the Council for Psychoanalysis and Jungian Analysis College, part of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), a registered counsellor and psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within those organisations’ ethical guidelines.
